The years that change the world until 2042
In the years leading up to 2042, humans faced several world-changing events, such as super storms, depressions, food and fuel shortages, and collapsing countries. This led to “the greatest crisis in human history”, with more than 1.2 billion people homeless and countries locking their borders. These people, known as the Non-Patriated or No-Pats, band together and become a staple of the new world that begins to germinate after the devastation of the late 2030s. However, tensions between the United States and Russia are mounting. boom as the superpowers take control of this new world.
Then, a space debris storm caused the crash of more than 70% of all satellites in orbit, causing another wave of destruction in 2040. In the blackout, planes crash, communications fail and global supply chains cripple under pressure. It’s just enough to tip the scales into chaos, with Russia and the US blaming the other for the blackout while the No-Pats sit in between. This, combined with other problems, is leading to a shadow war between the United States and Russia, which uses the No-Pat task forces “as proxies in the escalation of conflicts over resources – promising to refugees a piece of what remains ”.
In 2042, open war looms on the horizon and the No-Pats must choose sides as they fight for their future.
Battlefield 2042 Multiplayer & Cards
While we don’t have all the details yet, Battlefield 2042’s multiplayer gameplay is set to be an epic experience. Of course, the fan-favorite and iconic Conquest sandbox mode is making a return, now supporting 128 players on Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 5, and PC. We’re also seeing the return of Breakthrough, with attackers and defenders battling over “larger scale sectors as attackers move towards the end goal.” There is also a new mode called Hazard Zone and a mode that has been drafted, which we should be hearing about soon on EA Play Live on July 22. In the future, there will also be a free and paid Battle Pass that will each bring new content. three month season.
As for the cards, the one we have seen the most is probably “Orbital”, located in Kourou, French Guiana. Players will “race against time and hostile conditions as you battle around the site of an impending rocket launch,” with enemy fire and upcoming storms proving to be a threat.
The next card on the list is “Hourglass”, located in the now deserted sand of Doha, Qatar. As the Battlefield page explains, “Huge dust and sandstorms are constantly pouring in, erasing natural light, as you fight for control of a convoy trapped in the quicksand.”
Cityscapes are a familiar face of the Battlefield franchise, and the Songdo, South Korea-based “Kaleidoscope” map is no different. This sprawling, state-of-the-art city in South Korea allows players to “zip-line between skyscrapers and battle in the plazas surrounding the city’s iconic data center.”
Changing gears, “Manifest” takes players to Brani Island, Singapore, where players “will navigate labyrinth-shaped cargo containers to this key trading location, vital to US supply lines.” Tropical tornadoes and enemies shooting at you will prove to be very dangerous here.
On the west coast of India, “colossal ships washed up on the beach are stripped of parts.” Players will battle across Alang, India, “among the hulls of these behemoths while adapting to deadly storms.”
The “Breakaway” map takes players to the frozen lands of Queen Maud, Antarctica, where “oil extraction has turned the Freezing Zone into a strategic hotspot.” Between destructible fuel tanks, debris fields, and permanent fires, this cold map will be a hot spot when Battlefield 2042 kicks off.
Finally, we have “Renewal”, a map that takes players to the Eastern Desert in Egypt. A massive wall was built in the desert to “secure the rich and man-made agricultural areas”. You can expect to face extreme conditions as you walk through and struggle to secure access points and massive doors in the wall.
Next, Maria Falck is the healer with a syrette gun and a revival kit that heals healthy players.
Piotr “Boris” Guskovsky is an engineer of Russian origin who is quite experienced with weapons and who is equipped with a sentry system.
Finally, we have Wikus “Casper” Van Daele, a lone reconnaissance soldier who is equipped with a reconnaissance drone and motion sensor to protect himself in any position while providing support to the team. .
