The first and only magician to win Britain’s Got Talent said he was “super excited” to be in Eastbourne for a show.
Richard Jones, who won the show in 2016, said he was told Eastbourne was “the friendliest place in the UK”.
The magician, who currently serves in the military, performs for the first time at the Royal Hippodrome Theater on October 22.
Speaking of the theater, Mr Jones said: “I saw it online, it looks like an amazing place. I see there are great acts.
Mr Jones said he visited Eastbourne as a child but couldn’t wait to return.
He said: “I’ll try to do a few days so I can take a look at it while I’m at it.
“I kind of have memories of going with my parents, but I probably would have been seven or eight.”
Mr Jones was scheduled to perform in Eastbourne in April 2020, but the show has been postponed due to the lockdown.
He said: “It will be really exciting when I finally get on stage.
“In all fairness, the show has changed a lot.
“There are a few skills I learned from confinement. “
The magician was known for his stunning performances on national television in which he interacted with the judges.
Speaking about his show in Eastbourne, Mr Jones said: “It will be interactive. Every person in there will be involved in one way or another.
“I love the magic that uses real objects that people bring to the show.”
Mr Jones, from Essex, said he encouraged people to come and have a “good night”.
He said: “Anyone in Eastbourne wants to have a good night out and see the impossible, get off.
“We need magic more than ever because it makes people smile. “
