Sunday (September 26) Hippodrome 3R, the Jockey Club du Québec, the Association des trialistes amateurs du Québec (ATAQ) are organizing a special goalkeeper appreciation day in collaboration with the events of the Standardbred National Goalkeeper Appreciation Day Canada across Canada.

Guardians are the unsung heroes of harness racing, sometimes working 24/7 to care for their horses.

There are 10 full fields of trotters and race leaders on Sunday starting at 12:10 p.m. and track announcer Guy Lafontaine will announce the keeper of each competing horse.

All trainers in the race paddock on Sunday will receive a free lunch and a special gift card will be given to each of the trainers of the winning horse in the 10 races.

There are two favorite events for stimulation horses and mares on Sunday.

The older horses compete in the ninth race where the former Quebec champion, Histoire Enchantée, is aiming for his fourth consecutive victory. The seven-year-old gelding by Shanghai Phil starts from the fifth post for driver Pascal Berube and trainer Francis Richard.

This season, Histoire Enchantee has five wins, all in 3R, the fastest at 1: 54.4 miles.

The favorite of the race is D Gs De Vito (Post 7) ​​for the driver Jonathan Lachance. In 17 starts this year, the five-year-old gelding son of Sportswriter has a record of six wins, five seconds and three third places. He has yet to finish worse than third since July.

Other contenders include returning winner Maracasso (post 1), Farmers Tan (post 8) and Dreydl Hanover (post 5).

The fillies and mare are featured in the fifth Preferred Pace race which sees the return of last week’s winner, You Rock Girl Kir, who rocked the board with a score of 21-1.

You Rock Girl Kir and pilot Stéphane Gendron leave Post 7 on Sunday. Last week they led from start to finish with a record time of 1:57 for coach owner Andre Denault.

The race favorite is Wild River Swan (Post 5) for rider Jonathan Lachance. Last week they closed with a ton of speed to be second behind You Rock Girl Kir. It was his first departure after a brief layoff.

Other contenders of note include Kiss Me Bad (Post 6), who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end last weekend. Platinum Alpha (Post 3), the only filly in the race, is looking to add to her seven wins this year and Sophies Can (Post 4) is still very competitive.
