Meghan Markle paid a subtle tribute to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana by carrying a Dior bag that bears her name in New York – while also wearing her Cartier watch.
The Duchess of Sussex, 40, stepped out to the Global Live Citizen event on Saturday wearing a black coat and scarf in weather 76F – but it was her accessories that caught the attention of royal fans.
The mother-of-two paid a touching tribute to the late Princess Diana by wearing Christian Dior’s Lady D-Lite bag, priced at £ 3,450.
Originally called ‘Chouchou’, the Lady Dior bag changed its name in 1996 in honor of Princess Diana after being seen using it.

The boxy bag was offered to the deceased royal by the First Lady of France in September 1995, during the opening of the Paul Cézanne retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris.
At that time, the Chouchou was not yet on sale to the public, and only in possession of the 1% of the world.
And it didn’t take long for Diana to start pairing the black patent bag with several of her chic ensembles, including a white Versace suit she wore on a trip to Argentina on November 26, 1995.
Admitting that it “looked good on her,” the late royal then ordered another navy blue to match her eye color.
Meghan Markle could be seen wearing the £ 8,768 ($ 12,000) Cartier watch during Saturday’s ‘Wokestock’ in New York.
Meghan’s elegant watch was originally owned by Diana, seen wearing it on her left writing during an engagement with the British Lung Foundation in 1997
Embodying the brand’s vision of elegance and beauty, the clean and refined style is fully embroidered with a black Cannage pattern and the front features a “CHRISTIAN DIOR” signature.
As for the thick DIOR charms in pale gold-finish metal, they enhance and illuminate the silhouette.
It has a large, reversible and removable embroidered shoulder strap and can be carried by hand, over the shoulder or across the body.
Elsewhere, the £ 17,800 Cartier Tank Française gold watch has been worn by Diana on several occasions, including a 1997 visit to the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu temple in London and an engagement with the British Lung Foundation in the same year.
Meghan is known to be a fan of the sleek watch and splurged on her own two-tone version in 2015 when “Suits” was cast for a third season.
At the time, she told Hello Magazine: “I have always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch. When I found out that Suits had been picked for our third season – which at the time looked like a milestone – I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version.
‘I had it engraved on the back of’ To MM From MM ‘and I intend to give it to my daughter one day. This is what makes the pieces special, the connection you have with them.
Meghan received several items from Diana’s collection. They include Diana’s butterfly earrings and gold bracelet that she wore on their Australian tour in 2018.
Still, the watch is a favorite and she has been spotted wearing it often.
The watch had been given to Diana by her father on the occasion of her 21st birthday.
