Ryan Preece is a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series, but a part-time participant in the Whelen Modified Tour. The driver from Berlin, Connecticut, didn’t win anything in the Cup Series, but Friday night Preece won his third consecutive Whelen Modified Tour event at Richmond, Virginia Speedway.

The winner had a strong closing run in the second half of the 150-lap main event on the three-quarter-mile Richmond Oval. It was his third win at Whelen in just seven outings in 2021. There were plenty of yellow flags in the final laps at Richmond, but Jon McKennedy and Ronnie Williams survived to finish second and third.

Whelen’s points leaders Justin Bonsignore and Patrick Emerling weren’t so lucky. Both fell out of the race early in the race and finished 24th and 25th. Bonsignore maintains a 20-point lead over Emerling with only two races remaining on Whelen’s schedule.

Cup veteran Ryan Newman was fourth, followed by Doug Coby, Kyle Bonsignore, Austin Beers, Andy Jankowiak, Burt Meyers and Woody Pitkat.

BILLY DUNN WINS DIRT 358 MODIFIED TOUR RACE AT CAN-AM

Billy Dunn won the DIRT 358 Modified Tour race at Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville on Friday night. The Watertown rider rose from 10th to first place in just 30 laps and scored a solid victory in the 50-lap function.

Veteran Tim Fuller was second, followed by Mike Maresca, Dave Marcuccilli, Jordon McCreadie, Erick Rudolph, Ryan Bartlett, Louie Jackson, Shaun Shaw and Rocky Warner.

Sid Harmor Jr. won the support feature for professional actions.

BRADY FULTZ AND DAVIE FRANEK WIN AT THE OUTLAW SPEEDWAY

Dundee’s Outlaw Speedway conducted its final points program of the season on Friday, with Davie Franek passing Jonathan Preston for victory in the 360 ​​sprint car category.

In the modified 30-round wind-up, Brady Fultz took home the win of $ 2,000, with Danny Johnson, Bobby Varin, Jim LaRock and Steve Paine from second to fifth.

OTHER FRIDAY WINNERS

Marc Johnson won $ 3,500 at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, followed by Ronnie Johnson, Mike Mahaney, Stewart Friesen and Anthony Perrego.

Chad Brachmann was the 358 modified winner on Friday night at Ransomville Speedway.
