Less than a week after posting his long-awaited collaboration with Target, Christopher john rogers is already on the next thing. Friday, the winning designer of the CFDA abandoned the resort collection for its namesake label. And like her latest adventure, this one is also full of coveted sculptural dresses, with details like corsets and lots of sequins.

For this latest collection, Rogers’ main goal was to inspire optimism, according to a press release. Yes, it’s become a buzzword since the pandemic, but this collection is anything but a cliché. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s archives, the designer has created an authentic and fresh line that exudes joy. “It’s nothing we’ve ever done, but it’s all we’ve ever done,” Rogers said in the statement.

In his signature style, Rogers used bold colors. This time, however, he avoided primary colors, selecting secondary shades instead, as well as neutrals. The result is Regencycore dresses, with waist petticoat and corsets, and costumes printed with eye-catching patterns. Playing in the recent surge in demand for evening dresses, Rogers used large and small sequins to create dresses perfect for the festivities. Crystals also made their way into the collection in the form of buttons on an 80s-inspired hourglass-shaped skirt suit with a deep V-neckline.

From May 22 to 30, buyers can pre-order items from the 008 collection at ChristopherJohnRogers.com.
