Seiko x Sonic 30th anniversary watch is inspired by the SEGA game

If you are excited about the 30th anniversary celebrations of Sonic the hedgehog, so welcome the new merchandise that is sure to blow your mind. Sonic, in collaboration with Seiko, designed our favorite hedgehog’s 30th anniversary watch.

This special edition watch is an embodiment of cool Japanese horology and style. It has a playful design reminiscent of SEGA games.

The remarkable timepiece features a stainless steel case and a dial inspired by Green Hill in the first stage of Sonic the Hedgehog. This is illustrated by a cobalt blue dial base, which signifies the sky. The Sonic can be found running past the golden hour markers and is currently positioned at 4 o’clock.

In addition, the vintage-style railroad minute tracker is shaped like green grass in a pixelated form which enhances the aesthetics of the dial. The chronograph dial with 1/20 of a second sub-dial at 12 o’clock and date counter at 3 o’clock also features a single seconds hand with a star as a counterweight.

The special edition

Being truly exquisite, only 3000 Seiko x Sonic 30th Anniversary watches will be made. It is powered by a Seiko automatic quartz movement and it is designed to be waterproof up to 10 meters.

Interestingly, the watch has Sonic’s 30th anniversary engraved along with the limited edition model number on the caseback. The watch packaged in a luminous Sonic Blue color box, will be available for purchase from mid-August for 49,800 yen (around $ 455).
