SUPER73 teases upcoming reveal – Could it be an electric motorcycle?

SUPER73 definitely has something coming next week, we just don’t know what. But a new teaser released by the lifestyle e-bike brand sets the date for March 15 and hints that this could be the company’s highly anticipated (and as yet unconfirmed) electric motorcycle.

SUPER73 teases the big reveal

Although we have not been able to confirm that SUPER73 has an electric motorcycle in the works, signs point to it being a very good bet.

The SoCal e-bike company originally teased a big announcement that would take place at CES 2022 in early January, but that unveiling was canceled amid the booming Omicron variant and a significantly toned down CES convention.

The original pre-CES teaser showed what appeared to be an electric motorcycle transformed into a neon light sign, fueling speculation that SUPER73 was headed in a larger direction.

At the time, SUPER73 shared that “the company plans to revolutionize two-wheeled transportation by unveiling a bold new concept, groundbreaking new models, and new accessories and apparel lines.”

SUPER73 has been rolling out new versions of its e-bikes fairly consistently over the past few years, so the new models themselves didn’t seem too surprising.

The description of “segment-busting” certainly piques my curiosity, although I think it’s fair to already describe all of SUPER73’s current e-bikes as “segment-busting”.

This “bold new concept” mentioned by the company was the real boost. It was widely thought to be a possible electric motorcycle, possibly something like an ONYX electric moped or even a lightweight City Slicker electric motorcycle.

What do you see?

SUPER73’s latest teaser shows four dimly lit e-bikes shrouded in fog. Like a real teaser, SUPER73 did their best to show us as many bikes as possible while revealing as little as possible.

I can’t tell you how many times I paused and replayed the 15-second clip, but I’m pretty confident these four bikes are all based on the SUPER73-R platform. They all feature top tube batteries, and I’m pretty sure I can make out a fuzzy rear shock on each of them, again matching the R platform.

The full-suspension R platform was first unveiled in 2020 and opened the door to more capable e-bikes from the brand.

None of the bikes in the teaser appear to be a potential SUPER73 electric motorcycle platform.

This means that if I was a punter, SUPER73 could also release a new high-end e-bike on the R platform, or something similar.

Then, of course, we still have that potential electric motorcycle hanging over our heads.

Again, if I was a bettor, I would put my money on some type of electric moped similar to ONYX or Huck Cycles. While it would be great to see SUPER73 release something that could challenge the SONDORS Metacycle or the NIU RQi, it would be a big step forward for the e-bike company.

Of course, their electric bikes are probably already electric mopeds or light electric motorcycles. But they are still e-bikes, both nominally and functionally. SONDORS shocked the industry by unveiling the affordable Metacycle concept electric motorcycle, but 14 months later the bike is way behind schedule and we haven’t heard of any updates in months.

SUPER73 surely does not want to end up in the same quagmire.

So either they have a legit electric motorcycle and waited to reveal their hand as soon as SONDORS did, or they have an electric moped that will be much easier to produce because it would basically only be a step or two to the top. scale in power and build compared to the brand’s existing R-series e-bikes.

Or I could be wrong about all of this. I guess we’ll find out in five days.

While we wait to see what SUPER73 has up its sleeve, I’ll leave you with the video above of my wife and myself testing the company’s latest launch, the SUPER73-ZX.

And be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments section below, letting us know what you think SUPER73 will reveal next week.
