There was only one coach to back in the May meeting with Cleveland’s Chester Cup triumph making it an incredible five wins out of five runners over the three days for coach Aidan O ‘Brien, a five-timed 1,971-1.

Changing of the guard in the Chester Vase (100-30), Thoughts Of June in the Cheshire Oaks (7-1), Star Of India in the Dee Stakes (6-4) and Temple Of Artemis (9-4) were the other winners for Champion Coach of Ireland.

All were ridden by Ryan Moore, who scored with eight of his 11 runs in the meeting, including on Solid Stone in Friday’s Group 2 Huxley Stakes.

Moore’s performance in Cleveland drew particular praise, with Kevin Buckley, Coolmore’s UK representative, describing the ride along the inside rail as “brilliant” while adding that he was at a loss for words over the skills of O’Brien as a coach. He said, “That’s right on top of everything.”

ITV racing presenter Jane Mangan said Moore was ‘one of the best jockeys in the world’ along with colleague Jason Weaver, adding that ‘this is a riding class we are lucky to be in witness”.

Assessing Moore’s run in the Chester Cup where Cleveland scraped the inside rail before bursting to successfully challenge down the straight, Mangan said: “It’s vintage Ryan Moore. It sticks to the rail, it takes every chance. I know he had the horse to accelerate into the gap when he came in, but he didn’t have to – he could have played it safe. He didn’t, he played all the cards and his horse had all the answers.

“He’s one of the best in the world and we’re lucky to see him in the flesh. It’s a privilege.”

Moore was denied a 192-1 hat-trick on the final day of the encounter in Chester after Boosala fell short by a nose to win the opening contest, something Weaver said the runner would “kick himself.” foot, I know how he is”.

However, summarizing Moore’s journey to Cleveland, the pundit added: “He was biding and biding his time, vying for it and not wanting to buffer the breaks. He kept the bit in his mouth and then he went home.

“It’s totally uncharted territory for this horse, he hardly raced compared to the others, and he was handled beautifully throughout. This is a class of riding we are fortunate to be part of. witnesses.”

While on the track, O’Brien and Moore enjoyed an unforgettable week, their successes in some ways overshadowed by the news that their Cazoo Derby favourite, Luxembourg, had been “a little lame on her posterior” after exercise on Friday morning.

O’Brien and Moore will be set to maintain the winning streak at Lingfield on Saturday when they team up with United Nations in the Derby Trial and Emily Dickinson in the Oaks Trial.
