An iconic seaside venue with live music and street food has quickly become ‘the place to be’ in Yarmouth.

The Empire officially reopened in July of this year and just two months later owner Jack Jay said the response had been “absolutely unbelievable.”

Whether you’re going to see a local band or meet up with friends to eat and drink, Mr Jay – whose family also owns Racecourse Circus – said he attracts visitors from all over Norfolk.

He said: “The building is so amazing and we were so excited to relaunch it.

“From a musical point of view I’m really proud because we’ve worked hard to create a venue here in Yarmouth.

“There were things like the battle of the bands or a place where artists wanted to play – which is so important for young musicians. We are producing so much great talent in and around this region.

“There hasn’t been this flagship spot for a long time. But Empire quickly became that.

Mr Jay said the site is the ‘missing piece of the puzzle’ along Yarmouth seafront and he hopes its success will continue through the winter months.

Empire is also home to three highly successful food vendors – including burgers from Rude Kitchen, Mediterranean-inspired vegetarian choices from the Middle East coast, and “world street food” by Fanny Adams.

“We’ve had an amazing summer, but if people haven’t, now is the time to come,” he said.

“This place has a festival-style street-food vibe that would usually disappear in the fall or winter, but it will be open all year round.

“On Halloween we have cool projects with awesome groups and our food traders get involved and the same with Christmas. The times when people want to get together. We are really excited for this.

In addition to local artists, in the future, Mr. Jay also hopes to host new events, including drag and stand-up.

He added: “Now that it’s operational, we are delighted to be using it in different ways possible.”
